Stater Bros Rocks! #OpComCares #SupportOurTroops THANK YOU!

So proud to be involved with a tremendous organization like Stater Bros!

Stater Bros. Charities Sends 1,000 Care Packages
to Deployed Local Service Members

San Bernardino, California (June 15, 2016) –  Over 200 members of the Stater Bros. “Family” of Employees, friends, suppliers and representatives from Operation Community Cares (a local organization that supports our troops) gathered to prepare 1,000 care packages for local military members currently serving overseas in celebration of Armed Forces Day.

The event took place on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Stater Bros. Corporate Offices and Distribution Center located at 301 S. Tippecanoe Avenue, San Bernardino, California 92408.

We at OCC are so excited to have worked with Stater Bros Charities to continue the mission to boost morale for our men and women overseas. The feedback we continue to get has been overwhelming as to how much a care package can do,” said Ryan Orr, Vice President of Operation Community Cares. “To think some simple items sent with love, can lift spirits and make them smile! We are told it saves lives! God Bless Stater Bros. and all they do for our community,” Orr further added.

“Stater Bros. has a rich legacy of service to this great nation and a long-standing commitment to the support of our country’s veterans and service members,” stated Jack H. Brown, Executive Chairman of Stater Bros. Markets and a Navy Veteran.   “I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate Armed Forces Day than by preparing care packages from the Heartland for our local military members to let them know we’re thinking of them and praying that they come home safe . . . and come home soon,” Brown continued.

About Operation Community Cares
Operation Community Cares is an organization that proactively supports the health and welfare of our American Servicemen and Women across the globe. Far too often, the commitment of our service people is forgotten and OCC specializes in programs that help service people to communicate and connect with family, friends and loved ones through the unique web-based environment. They have various programs that aim to support the troops’ personal needs. Best of all, OCC carries its commitment to service people that are at home as well. For some, returning home can be a very trying and stressful experience. Our troops deserve the very best.

About Stater Bros. Charities:
Stater Bros. Charities is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports critical needs in the communities where Stater Bros. employees live and work.  Since 2008, Stater Bros. Charities has provided funding to countless local organizations and causes that benefit hunger relief, children’s well-being, education, health, and help for our nation’s veterans.  Funds are raised throughout the year from generous customers, supplier friends, and caring members of the Stater Bros. Supermarket Family.  For more information visit staterbros.com

Fired Up for opportunity with CA Senator Morrell! MC

Senator Morrell's Patriots of the Past, Present, & Future Ceremony & Dinner

I am beyond excited to be selected by the Senator to MC this event tonight.. Last year was an incredible event and I was selected as a recipient of one of the awards and this year I am honored to help run the event! I am beyond blessed and grateful for the opportunity! I love what Senator Morrell does and how great of an example he is in our community!

Picture from last year

“Few can fully understand the sacrifices made by the men and women of the Armed Forces to protect and defend our country,” said Morrell. “Patriots of the Past, Present, and Future is about reflecting on their service and how we as a community can support them, whether through helping out at local veterans events or pursuing public policy changes that improve lives and ensure smooth transitions to civilian life once they leave the military. We need to remember, honor, and recognize their continued patriotism and promote these virtues in the hearts and minds of younger generations.”
The event will honor veterans, active duty service men and women, reservists, members of the National Guard, and businesses and organizations that have supported them. It will also be an opportunity to discuss public policy issues affecting veterans, including Senate Bill 418(link is external), which would help active duty California State University students finish their college degrees, and Senate Bill 2(link is external), which would clarify property tax exemptions for Veterans Halls.
“Patriots” from around the 23rd Senate District will be recognized in four categories - Business, Education, Public Safety and Community Service. “Patriots” are defined as:
  • Patriot of the Past: A veteran of a conflict such as World War II, the Korean War, or the Vietnam War.
  • Patriot of the Present: A currently enlisted service member, a reservist, a veteran of a recent conflict such as the Gulf War or Operation Iraqi Freedom, or a business or organization that currently serves veterans in some capacity.
  • Patriot of the Future: An individual under 21 years of age who either actively serves the military or veterans or plans on enlisting.
Nominations were submitted from all over the 23rd Senate District. Last year’s award winners were asked to review the applications and select this year’s honorees, which will be announced at the event. A full list of finalists can be found here.
